Goals for 2013

After a brief hiatus over the holidays, I have returned! I hope you all had a very merry Christmas and celebrated the arrival of 2013 safely and with much celebration.

I’ve never been a fan of “New Year’s Resolutions”. However, I do believe that setting goals and working to achieve those goals is an important thing. I came up with five goals for this New Year, directly related to the blog and my collection.

1. Create + show off more custom cards – I have already come up with a design for my customs this year, and I have a list of cards that I want to make. All that’s left is to set up the template and find some photos. I did a poor job of showing off my creations on the blog in 2012, even though I had most of them uploaded to a Facebook album. I also want to find a better, higher-quality way to print my customs.
2. Post about Olympic autographs – I still have quite a few autographs that I have acquired from members of the 2012 Team USA Olympic team, and some of them are very cool. My goal is to give each autograph it’s individual post, as well as to obtain more and feature them, as well.
3. Knock at least five autographs off my most-wanted list – Right now, my list of unobtained autographs from my most wanted list sits at 44, and I need to add about five more that I’ve come up with over the past week or so. I want to knock at least 10% of the list into the “Acquired” category before this time next year.
4. Conduct more interviews, including some in-person – I check my page view numbers every so often, and judging by them, my interview series has been a big hit. I have list of folks that I want to interview and would make awesome features for the blog, and my goal is to continue to build on the success that the interviews I conducted in 2012 had. I also want to try my hand at conducting some interviews in-person. I will have the opportunity to interview some well-known names in multiple sports in the coming year, and I want to take those opportunities and run with them.
5. Plug the blog more on Facebook and Twitter – I started my own Facebook page strictly for the blog some time last year, and used it just as a place to post some cards I had for trade. In the next couple of days, I’m going to completely revamp that page, change some things up, and post some new stuff. I recently hit 60,000 page views, and I’m shooting for 100,000 by the end of 2013. Social networking is going to be key in helping me reach this goal.

So those are my New Year’s goals! Feel free to share yours!
