Where Are They Now: Doug Mientkiewicz

Who is he? Douglas Andrew "Doug" Mientkiewicz, a former Major League baseball player who spent time with the Twins, Red Sox, Mets, Royals, Yankees, Pirates and Dodgers.

What is he known for/why do we care? Mientkiewicz was a member of the 2004 World-Series-winning Boston Red Sox that ended the team's championship drought of eighty-six years. Mientkiewicz (pronounced MINT-kay-VICH) was acquired mid-season, and proved to be a valuable member of the team. He also won a gold medal as a member of Team USA in the 2000 Sydney Olympics, the first such medal that the United States had won in the sport.

What's he doing now? Doug spent the 2012 season in the Dodgers organization as a coach, and earlier this off-season, he was named the manager of the Fort Myers Miracle, the Twins' A-Advanced affiliate & a team that Mientkiewicz played for as his career was beginning.
