2013 NPF Draft-Reactions

As I mentioned yesterday, the 2013 NPF Collegiate Draft was last night. Twenty players were selected to continue their softball careers at the highest level of the game. I wasn’t able to watch the draft live on, but I plan to watch the replay after work today, so a full recap will be up tomorrow.

I was surfing Twitter and Facebook post-draft last night (special thanks to Shay for her updates and the NPF for chronicling each draft pick as they happened), and several of the players selected took to one social network or another to express their thanks and gratitude to their fans and the respective team that drafted them.

As a side note, this year’s draft class already looks to be several times more beneficial than last year’s. While the 2012 draft produced players like Kristyn Sandberg and Brittany Mack, several players drafted chose not to play in the NPF. As you’ll see below, more than half of the players chosen last evening have committed to or expressed interest in playing in the NPF this upcoming season, and that is definitely a good thing for the growth and development of the league.

See the full draft order here.

Some players, like #1 overall pick Rachele Fico…

… and #3 overall selection Jolene Henderson from Cal chose to go with short, sincere messages.

Others showed their excitement in replies to tweets from future teammates…

Others added a humorous anecdote to their messages…

Even more reactions:

And, of course, this post would not be complete with this collage of Kansas’ Maggie Hull right after she was drafted #11 overall by the Chicago Bandits. Thanks to Rob Hull via Facebook for the pic(s).

  1. Go Hokies, of course. And Go Comets, I suppose.
