Who is she? Amanda Locke, a former standout designated player and pitcher for the Alabama Crimson Tide, and an integral part of the 2012 NCAA Championship winning-team.
What is she known for? As I mentioned, Locke was an important part of the 2012 championship-winning Crimson Tide squad. Locke spent the season mainly as the team's designated player, while also spelling Jackie Traina in the circle. Locke also spent the 2012 National Pro Fastpitch season with the Carolina Diamonds, reuniting with 'Bama teammate Jazlyn Lunceford as both began their professional careers.
You might not know... that Amanda competed in not just softball, but also volleyball and track at North Mesquite High School in Mesquite, Texas. Amanda also was named to the SEC All-Academic team all four of her years at Alabama.
What's she up to now? Amanda just finished her first season as an assistant coach at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. The Lady Demons won the Southland Conference championship in 2013, and advanced to the Baton Rouge regional of the NCAA tournament, where they were eliminated.
