Who is she? Megan Gibson, a former NCAA All-American pitcher at Texas A&M, as well as the #2 overall National Pro Fastpitch draft pick in 2008 and a standout hurler in the league.
What is she known for? Gibson is one of the best pitchers and most well-known names to come out of college in the past decade. She was part of a stellar senior class at Texas A&M in 2008 that also included Jami Lobpries and Amanda Scarborough. As I mentioned, she was the #2 overall draft pick to the NPF in 2008, behind only Katie Burkhart and ahead of other pitchers such as Angela Tincher & Taryne Mowatt.
You might not know... that Megan shares a birthday with Elton John and Sarah Jessica Parker. Also, she was a three-time All-American, including two first team nods in 2007 and 2008.
What's she up to now? Following a two-year stint as assistant coach at UTSA, Gibson followed head coach Amanda Lehotak to Penn State, where she is in her first season as an assistant in State College.
