Weekend Update

- Head coaches Rick Bertagnolli (California University of Pennsylvania); Lori Meyer (Minnesota State-Mankato); and Patrick Murphy (Alabama), as well as softball legend and present FAU head coach Joan Joyce were inducted into the NFCA Hall of Fame during the annual convention last week.
- The 2014 Hall of Fame class was also announced - it will include Oklahoma City head coach Phil McSpadden; SUNY Cortland head coach Julie Lenhart; Alabama-Huntsville head coach Les Stuedeman; and NFCA Executive Director Lacy Lee Baker.
- Olivia Gibson, who served as the backup catcher and "Bama Beats" unofficial leader for the 2012 National Champion Alabama team, married former Bama & current Houston Astros minor league catcher Brett Booth on Saturday.
- The Alamo City Defenders, a squad made up of former collegiate & professional stars, beat the USSSA Pride 4-2 during a contest in San Antonio last week. Former Texas slugger & Team USA star Taylor Hoagland hit two home runs for the Defenders.
- Former all-American Jessica Moore flew to Japan over the weekend to film an appearance on a Japanese TV show. 1D0D, her official representation, has promised photos from the trip shortly.
- Chicagoland softball legend Eileen Canney has been elected to the Northwestern Athletic Hall of Fame.
