Who is she? Elana Meyers, a former slugging shortstop and school record holder for the George Washington Colonials. Meyers still holds the GWU school record for batting average; hits; and stolen bases.
What is she known for? Meyers was the first-recruit in GW Softball history. She earned the first pitching win for the program and, as mentioned above, set practically every offensive record for the Colonials. Those listed above, including a career .356 batting average, are achievements that still stand atop the program's record books.
What's she up to now? After her softball career ended, Meyers took up bobsledding and I'd say she is doing pretty well at it: she won a bronze medal at the 2010 Winter Games, and she's headed back to Sochi next month to represent Team USA once again.
You might not know... that Elana played one season of professional softball for the NPF in 2007 before moving on to other aspirations in professional athletics. She played for the Mid-Michigan Ice.
