News, Notes, and Milestones:
  • 2014 Winter Olympian and former George Washington softball star Elana Meyers threw out the first pitch at the Atlanta Braves game on Thursday. A video was posted here.
  • Coaching "W" milestones reached this week: Ehren Earleywine, Missouri, #500; Craig Nicholson, Arizona State, #1000; Kyla Holas, Houston, #500; Sandy Montgomery, SIU-Edwardsville, #900.
  • USA Softball star (and former Cal slugging star) Valerie Arioto threw out the first pitch at the San Diego Padres game over the weekend. A photo collage was posted here.
  • Minnesota's Sara Moulton set the Gophers record for strikeouts, surpassing the previous record of 1,122 that had been held by now-pitching coach Piper Ritter.
