No. 12/10 Oklahoma vs. No. 9/8 Tennessee
-This series is a rematch of the 2013 Women's College World Series Championship Series in which Oklahoma claimed its second national title.
-Oklahoma and Tennessee have met five previous times with the Lady Vols holding a 3-2 lead, including a 4-2 victory for Tennessee in the only meeting between the two in Norman on March 6, 2009.
-The most recent games between the Sooners and Lady Vols resulted in two of the best college games ever played at the WCWS. Game one was a 12 inning OU victory 5-3. The battle was scoreless through 10 before Tennessee's Madison Shipman hit a three-run homer in the top of the 11th. OU answered with three of their own in the bottom of the frame down to their final strike of the game. In the bottom of the 12th Lauren Chamberlain hit a walk-off two run homer to put OU up 1-0 in the series. In game two Michelle Gascoigne struck out 12 Lady Vols while Keilani Ricketts drove in all four of Oklahoma's runs in the two game series sweep 4-0 for the programs second national championship.
-Oklahoma is 8-8 all-time in Super Regional play. OU has won six straight Super Regional contests dating back to 2011. On its current streak OU has outscored its opponents 42-5.
-Tennessee is 12-3 all-time in Super Regional play. This years Super Regional matchup marks the second straight year and third time overall the Lady Vols will face a defending national champion in Super Regional play. In 2006 the Lady Vols defeated Michigan in Knoxville and in 2013 Tennessee topped defending champion Alabama in two games in Knoxville.
