EXCLUSIVE: Adrian Gregory to be Named Head Coach at Texas Tech

Sources inside Texas Tech University have confirmed to Justin's World that Sam Houston State assistant coach Adrian Gregory will be named the head coach of the Red Raiders.

Adrian Gregory
Gregory's resume includes a three-year stint at Utah before joining the Bearkats' staff in 2010. This will be her first head coaching position.

During Gregory's stint at SHS, the Bearkats have set numerous school records, including single-season team batting average (.321); home runs (59); and total hits (559). All three of those records were set during the Bearkats' 2013 season that ended in the conference title winner-take-all matchup against Northwestern State. The 2012 and 2013 Southland Conference Players of the Year both came from under Gregory's tutelage.

Gregory played and started for four years for the Aggies of Texas A&M, also serving as team captain for part of that time.

She has ties to professional softball, as she played shortstop for two seasons for the Texas Thunder of the NPF following graduation. She also coached the New England Riptide for one pro season before returning to the college ranks full-time.

Gregory inherits a Red Raiders team that recorded a 35-19 record in 2014, but failed to make the NCAA tournament. She follows Shanon Hays at the helm of the program, after Hays resigned on May 13.
