Chicago Bandits catcher and former Charleston Southern assistant coach Kristen Butler has been named head softball coach at the University of Toledo, the school announced in a release today.
Butler spent the last two seasons as an assistant coach for the CSU Buccaneers, and was on the staff that led the Bucs to the conference tournament championship this season. Prior to that, her coaching resume includes stops at Mississippi Valley State and her alma mater, Florida.
This will be her first head coaching position.
Butler is in her seventh professional playing season, her third as a member of the Chicago Bandits. She was named Defensive Player of the Year in 2008.
Butler replaces Lane Leedy & Kyle Gross at the helm of the program, after the duo served as co-interim head coaches this past season.
