News and Tidbits - 10/6


  • Former Tennessee All-American pitcher Ellen Renfroe, class of 2014, has joined the coaching staff at Memphis as a volunteer assistant coach. Renfroe played this summer for the Chicago Bandits.
  • Fordham senior infielder Kayla Lombardo wrote an awesome tribute to now-retired Yankee captain Derek Jeter. The piece was featured on AOL.com, and really is a worthwhile read. Check it out here.
  • Tress Way, "Mr. Brianna Turang", is quickly making his mark in his first season with the Washington Redskins. He presently leads the league in average punt distance and has the longest punt of the year, an astounding 77-yarder.
  • Former Arizona and current Chicago Bandits pitcher Estela Pinon got engaged to Phillies pitcher Ken Giles.
  • Emily Allard, who enjoyed a stellar rookie campaign with the Chicago Bandits, is the new marketing manager for the NFCA, as announced on her Facebook page.
  • Former Michigan softballer Traci Conrad (class of '99) will be inducted into the Wolverines Hall of Honor at a ceremony in February of next year.
  • Amber Smith Coppola, a former All-American and all-conference player for Illinois State, was inducted into the school's athletics Hall of Fame on Saturday.
