Where Are They Now: Dara Toman

Who is she? Dara Toman, a former star versatile utility player for the Cleveland State Vikings and Akron Racers.

What is she known for? Toman is one of the finest offensive players in CSU history. She holds both the school’s and the Horizon League’s career home runs record, with 60 roundtrippers to her credit. She also holds the school and conference record for runs scored (145). She played for the Racers in 2013, reuniting her with former collegiate  teammate Tess Sito.

Here’s something interesting… Dara’s nickname on her current team is Baby Giraffe. She says, “I am the youngest on my team, and aside from being 6 feet tall, I am pretty clumsy.”

What’s she up to now? Dara is a video relay interpreter, where she interprets calls between the hearing and deaf using a video phone with an ear piece. For five months of the year, she flies all over the United States playing slow-pitch softball for a COMbat-sponsored team.
