Where Are They Now: Lauren Webster

Who is she? Lauren Webster, a former standout infielder and pitcher for the UAB Blazers.

What is she known for? During the 2013 season, when the Blazers advanced to Super Regionals, Lauren led the pitching staff with a 1.69 ERA. She registered a nearly 7/1 strikeout/walk ratio and opponents hit just .226 against her. Lauren was a true double threat, starting at second base her sophomore and juniors campaigns and bookending her career with stellar pitching in her inaugural and final seasons. The 2010 Conference USA Freshman of the Year and an all-conference and NFCA all-region selection, she registered a 1.77 ERA in that season and earned a spot on the Commissioner's Honor Roll.

Here's something interesting… After her collegiate career ended, Lauren traveled to Austria, where she lived and played and taught softball for three and a half months as part of the Vienna Wanderers organization.

What's she up to now? Lauren is working for the Dixie Section of the PGA, a regional office  for the PGA of America, where she is putting her degree in marketing to good use. She also is coaching a 10U travel team. Lauren was a part of a Blazer alumni team that took on the USSSA Pride fall tour team earlier in November.

Quotable quotes: (on the team she coaches) "I've coached them through coach pitch now to kid pitch. It's a lot of fun seeing them grow and improve over time. I really enjoy teaching them the fundamentals and even some of the more advanced aspects of the game."
