Former Marshall Thundering Herd star Amanda Williams-Paz has accepted the assistant coach's position at Kennesaw State, it was announced today.
Paz will assume the position that opened when Tory Acheson was elevated to interim head coach. The staff also presently includes assistant coach former Lady Vol Cat Hosfield Fritts & volunteer assistant Greg Giles.
After her playing career at Marshall, Paz spent eight years in various roles on the Herd's coaching staff; she served as a volunteer assistant; assistant; and associate head coach. She was part of the 2013 Herd team that captured the school's first-ever softball conference title and earned a berth in the NCAA tournament.
Paz holds the Marshall school records for doubles and runs, and ranks in the top three in five other statistical categories. She holds the 6th spot in the NCAA's all-time record book for doubles.
A veteran of seven years in the NPF league, she was a part of two championship-winning squads, in 2009 & 2011.
UPDATE: Amanda gave JWOS a statement; "I am so excited to be given this opportunity and to be a part of this team. We have a great staff in place and a wonderful group of girls. I'm thrilled about the direction we are headed. KSU was in my backyard growing up, so I'm thrilled to be a part of the coaching staff."
