Berg's Jersey to be Retired at Fresno State

Laura Berg, she of legendary status with Fresno State & Team USA, will have her collegiate jersey number retired at her alma mater prior to the Bulldogs' game on February 28, a game that will feature Berg's own Oregon State Beavers as the opponents.
With a snag and reach like that, we're gonna
go on the assumption this is Bergie. // Photo cred:

Berg spent 1994-1998 in a Bulldogs uniform, earning four All-American honors, as well as leading the squad to their first-ever National title in '98. She is second all-time in the NCAA record books with 396 career hits to her credit (just nine short of the all-time record of 405).

Berg began suiting up for Team USA concurrently with her Bulldog career, and continued wearing the red, white, and blue after her collegiate career ended. She still stands as the only member of Team USA softball to play in four different Olympic games ('96, '00, '04' & '08). "Bergie" helped lead Team USA to the medal stand on all four occasions, including three golds.

Berg will soon begin her  third season at the helm of the Beavers program, a squad that she led to a 7th-place finish in the PAC-12 in 2014.
