Where Are They Now: Mel Dumezich

Who is she? Melissa "Mel" Dumezich, a former pitcher and hitter for the Texas A&M Aggies and the NPF's Chicago Bandits.

What is she known for? Dumezich was a masterful pitcher and excellent hitter during her time in college. She sits in the all-time top ten in nine different team pitching & offensive categories and was a four-time all-region selection. An all-SEC selection in her senior season, Dumezich's collegiate success led to her being selected by the Chicago Bandits with the 15th overall selection in the NPF draft. She spent a single season with the Bandits, playing sparingly.

Here's something interesting... Even during her days as an Aggie, Mel's career goal was to be a softball coach. In addition, she was the first-ever player from the state of Indiana to suit up for the Aggies of A&M softball.

What's she up to now? Mel is running the show at Extra Innings Indoor Academy in Tomball, Texas. In addition to being in charge of running things, Mel is giving pitching lessons out of the facility. She's also coaching as part of the Texas Hot Shots organization.

  1. Diamond Sports Hotshots and she is one of the best coaches I have ever seen. The girls she coaches just eat up every word that out of her mouth. They are tuned in to her and she gets more out of them than even they think they can do. Thank you Coach Mel
