Where Are They Now: Sarah Fekete

Who is she? Sarah Fekete, a former All-American for the Tennessee Lady Vols and a player and executive in the NPF.

What’s she known for? Fekete earned first-team all-American honors twice, in 2005 and 2006. She graduated with her name atop three Lady Vol offensive records and a top-four finalist for the Honda Award. She spent three seasons in the National Pro Fastpitch league as a player, as well as a single season as the general manager of the Tennessee Diamonds.

Here’s something interesting… “Fekete” is a Hungarian name; the English translation is “Black”. Sarah says “[Black] would have been a lot easier to pronounce!”

What’s she up to now? Sarah is currently the Assistant Academic Dean, Assistant Athletic Director, and head softball coach at Knoxville Catholic High School in Knoxville. Mrs. Sarah Bailey since 2007, she and husband Chad have two kids, ages six and nineteen months.

Quotable quotes: [on the ‘Lady Vols’ moniker & its forthcoming elimination]… “I will forever treasure my time at the University of Tennessee. I was honored to be part of the Lady Vol legacy and continue to support all the athletic programs.  A Lady Vol… is something that you are made of… athletic character and personal integrity.  It is NOT something that is stitched on a jersey.”
