Valdosta State's Albritton to be Out Six Weeks

Valdosta State star Courtney Albritton suffered an ulnar fracture in her right arm when she was hit by a pitch over the weekend and will be sidelined for at least six weeks, the team announced on Monday.

The injury occurred in the first inning of a game against North Alabama on Sunday. Albritton was hit by a pitch and learned the extent of the injury a short time later.

A three-time All-American and conference Player of the Year, Albritton currently leads the conference in three offensive categories this season, including runs scored, hits, and home runs.

Similarly to Oklahoma's Lauren Chamberlain, Albritton has mounted a home-run record-chase of her own - she currently sits just four roundtrippers shy of the Division II all-time record. She also holds second place all-time in total bases and third in runs scored.

An even six weeks out would bring Albritton back just in time for the Blazers' season-ending series against Mississippi College, followed by the conference tournament and NCAA postseason.
