Todd Downes to be USSSA Pride Assistant Coach

Georgia State associate head coach Todd Downes will be named as an assistant coach for the NPF's USSSA Pride, according to sources with knowledge of the agreement.

Downes has been an assistant at Georgia State since 2011, and was promoted to his current position prior to this season. The Panthers set a single-season school record with fifty-nine home runs in 2014 under Downes' tutelage.

Prior to coming to Georgia State, Downes spent time at another Peach State school, as a member of the Georgia Tech coaching staff for four seasons. The Yellow Jackets reached the NCAA tournament four times in his tenure there, as well as the first Super Regional in school history.

Downes has also spent time as a head coach at the high school level and as a travel ball coach, winning multiple state titles as the former.

He will join Mike Davenport's staff on the Pride; Davenport was recently named head coach after serving as an assistant on the 2014 championship-winning squad.
