Beth Mowins to Call Oakland Raiders Preseason Games

Longtime softball play-by-play announcer Beth Mowins will provide the same duties for the Oakland Raiders during the team's exhibition- and pre-season. Mowins will be paired with Hall of Famer Tim Brown and former NFL player & executive Matt Millen.

Mowins has called the Women's College World Series for a number of years, and also provides play-by-play for college football; college basketball; and worked some games during the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup.

Mowins is usually paired with Jessica Mendoza and Michele Smith during the college softball season, postseason, and WCWS.

The hiring is questionable due to the amount of criticism Mowins receives for her performance during the softball season, her premier sport, but there is little doubt she is capable of calling quality play-by-play at times.

The opportunity is, without a doubt, a groundbreaking and impressive one, and Mowins deserves kudos for her hard work that got her to this position.
