Where Are They Now: Stephanie Sayne

Who is she? Stephanie Humphrey Sayne, a former Tennessee pitcher and assistant coach.

Could not resist the urge to publish w/ this pic, of three
of the Lady Vols' all-time pitching greats:
L-R Megan Rhodes Smith; Stephanie Humphrey Sayne;
Monica Abbott
What is she known for? As a four-year member of the Lady  Vols roster and pitching staff, Sayne was the first Knoxville native to play softball for the Lady Vols. She ended her career in 2003 with her name atop the program's record books in three categories, and continues to this day to rank in the top three in six statistical categories, and the top ten in three others.

Here's something interesting... No longer a softballer, Stephanie has taken up kickboxing as a regular hobby. She says, "I'd love to be Ronda Rousey for a day".

Quotable quote: "My favorite game was beating #4-ranked LSU in 2002 when I went head-to-head with LSU great Britni Sneed. I always had so much respect for her as a pitcher. She was amazing."

What's she up to now? After serving as the Lady Vols' Director of Operations for three seasons, Stephanie decided to give it up to spend more time with her two sons, ages 3 1/2 and 14 months. She is now a stay-at-home mom.

  1. Stephanie also offers pitching lessons to many young girls hoping to follow in her footsteps someday. She is a great mentor to these young ladies.
