Gary Carter is arguably the greatest catcher in Major League Baseball history. An 11-time all-Star, with three Gold Gloves and five Silver Sluggers to his name and a 2003 inductee into the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, his name is one of the first considered in the category of New York Mets legends.
Did you know that Carter's daughter, Kimmy Carter Bloemers, was a starting catcher and a team captain for the Florida State softball team in the late nineties and early 2000s? A three-time all-ACC selection and with six top-ten spots in the FSU record books upon her graduation, she also was named to the ACC 50th-Anniversary team in 2003.
Continuing her father's legacy of giving back to the game after his playing days were done, Kimmy enters her 10th season as head coach at Division II Palm Beach Atlantic in 2016.
