Where Are They Now: Meghan Collins

Who is she? Meghan Collins, a former four-year starter and power hitter for the South Alabama Jaguars.

What is she known for? Collins was a part of the back-to-back Sun Belt champion USA squads in 2012 and '13; she started every game at first base during that time span. She led her team in home runs in 2012 and was in the top-five in nine different statistical categories. She also led her team in three statistical categories in her sophomore season in 2011. Since her playing career ended, she spent the last two seasons in various support roles with the Jaguar team.

Quotable quote, on a piece of advice she'd give the next generation of players: "I would tell them several things, including to be selfless and make it about the team. When you learn to give up self, the game becomes special and becomes bigger than just you. You work and strive for something as a unit."

What's she up to now? Meghan is currently in her first season as a coach for the Southeastern Louisiana Lions under first-year head coach Rick Fremin.

Here's something interesting... Some Louisiana geography for you: Collins hails from Slidell, Louisiana; currently resides in Lacombe, Louisiana; and coaches in Hammond, Louisiana. All three of these cities are part of the lower Louisiana metropolitan area (including the Baton Rouge suburbs and across Lake Pontchartrain from New Orleans).
