Where Are They Now: Destinee Martinez

Who is she? Destinee Janelle Martinez, a former all-star and all-conference outfielder and slapper for the Oklahoma Sooners.

What is she known for? For four years, Destinee was a spark plug of the Sooner offense, helping set the table for the team's power punch and coming around to score... a LOT. She was part of the 2013 National Championship team, was three times named an all-conference selection and three times all-region. She was nominated to the 2012 and 2013 Women's College World Series all-tournament teams.

Here's something interesting... During her playing career, Destinee played the sport of softball in five different countries and over half (twenty-six) of the fifty United States!

Quotable quote: "Competing every single day is a MUST! For younger players, I would tell them don't ever show up to practice or games without the urge to compete. Remember how fortunate you are to be given the talents and abilities to be in the position that you are in. Do not take this sport (or any sport) for granted, always give 110% and be thankful that you get to wake up and play it every single day!"

What's she up to now? Since her playing career as a Sooner and a member of the US National Team ended, Destinee has stayed in the red, white, and blue and now works for USA Softball at their headquarters in Oklahoma City! She actively works as an event coordinator at Hall of Fame Stadium and is a part of the execution of the Women's College World Series and other events throughout the year.
