Georgia Tech head coach Shelly Hoerner filled out her brand-new coaching staff with the addition of Sage Woodham as the Ramblin’ Wreck pitching coach.
The hiring marks Woodham’s first Division 1 position despite being a coaching veteran with several years of Division II work under her belt. Woodham’s resume includes stops at Augusta State; North Alabama; and her most recent position at Southern Arkansas.
A former Alabama-Huntsville pitcher, Woodham twice earned all-American honors and ended her career with a 1.22 career ERA and 607 strikeouts.
Under Woodham’s tutelage, former Arkansas transfer Kimmy Beasley assembled a stellar 2016 campaign en route to multiple Newcomer of the Year honors.
Woodham replaces Erin Wright, who led the Yellow Jacket pitching staff to a cumulative 4.21 ERA a season ago and 239 strikeouts en route to twenty-two victories and an opponent’s batting average of .280.
Earlier this offseason, Hoerner also announced the addition of assistant coach Rodney DeLong.
