University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) head coach Michelle Venturella has stepped down from her post, effective immediately, the school announced on Wednesday.
Venturella has accepted the head coaching position at Washington University in St. Louis, a Division III school. The move allows her to be closer to family.
The Flames went 195-205 in Venturella's eight years of leadership, including a 32-16 record in 2016 that also included the Horizon League's regular-season conference championship. The Flames' thirty-two wins in '16 are the program's most single-season victories in eleven years.
Venturella three times earned Horizon League Coach of the Year honors and led the Flames to one NCAA tournament appearance in her tenure.
