Former South Dakota head coach Amy Klyse and former Pacific assistant Gina Carbonatto will join the coaching staff at UC-Davis, head coach Erin Thorpe announced this week.
Klyse spent a decade at South Dakota, including eight seasons as the full-time head coach. During that time, she became the program's all-time winningest coach with more than two hundred wins. She led the program in the merger into Division I competition. She resigned this offseason after a disappointing 15-38, though it followed three consecutive seasons of no fewer than twenty-eight victories.
Carbonatto arrives after a two-year stint at Pacific, also her alma mater, where she was the top assistant coach, also having served in the capacity of volunteer assistant in the early 2010s. Carbonatto's resume also includes a stint at Washington, where she was on the coaching staff that led the Huskies to their first-ever national title. Carbonatto's resume also includes a two-year playing stint in the NPF.
They join an Aggie program that posted a 15-35 record in 2016, including a 4-17 mark in conference play in Thorpe's second season at the program's helm.
