The USA Women's Baseball National Team has named their twenty-member roster for the Women's Baseball World Cup, scheduled to be held in early September. The announcement comes after a four-day tryout that was held in Fullerton, California.
The Women's Baseball World Cup will be held in Gijang, South Korea from September 3-11. The United States is ranked #2 and is scheduled to play #9 Hong Kong in the opening round of the tournament.
One-half of the members of this year's squad, or ten players, were part of the 2015 team that took home the gold medal in the Pan American Games. Former UAB catcher Anna Kimbrell and 2016 NPF draftee and Iowa State alum Brittany Gomez are included in that contingent.
Among the newcomers are former Hawaii star Jessica Iwata and former Longwood slugger Megan Baltzell, author of Justin's World's own "The Road to Baseball Gold".
