Wright State has hired their new head softball coach, announcing the appointment of Ray Loeser to the position.
Loeser comes to WSU after five seasons at Division II's University of Charleston, where he led the program to the Division II College World Series after a 50-12 season record. 2016 was the first and only time in Golden Eagles program history that they reached the fifty-win milestone.
In his five seasons at Charleston, Loeser posted a 184-84 record, a tenure that also included the program's first-ever postseason appearance a year ago.
Prior to Charleston, Loeser's resume includes stops at Arkansas Tech and St. Petersburg College. Leading the WSU program will be his first-ever position at the Division I level.
He takes over a program that went 37-23 with an 18-6 mark in league play in 2016. Former head coach Lynn Curylo accepted another position this offseason, but leaves behind a solid nucleus of talent that includes 2016 batting champion Honnah Susor and ace hurler Ashley Sharp (1.72/.249 in '16).
