Wally King Joins South Florida as Assistant Coach

Former Ferris State head coach and Syracuse top assistant Wally King has been hired as the new assistant coach under Ken Eriksen at South Florida.

The newest Bull spent six years as the associate head coach at Syracuse from 2008-2013, helping lead the Orange to their first-ever season-ending top-25 ranking in 2012. The Orange won back-to-back Big East titles in 2010 and 2011.

King spent the 2016 season as the head coach at Division II Ferris State, leading the program to a 36-18 record and a T-3rd finish in the conference standings. The Bulldogs' thirty-six victories was a twenty-game improvement in that category from a season earlier and was the first time the program reached the thirty-win plateau since 2012.

King's resume also includes stops as an assistant coach at Bowling Green, as well as Division III Trine University and numerous stints at lower levels, including high school.

He joins a South Florida program that posted a 45-16 record in 2016, including a 15-3 mark in conference play and nine victories against Power Five opponents. The Bulls put together a twenty-three game winning streak spanning almost an entire month of games and lost to Tulsa in the AAC tournament championship game.
