Who is she? Marla Gooding, a former pitcher for the Toledo Rockets.

What is she known for? Gooding pitched for four seasons at Toledo, ending her career in 2016 with her name atop the program's all-time appearances list and sixth all-time in career victories. She made news in her senior season with an 11-0 streak of victories that included a 1.30 ERA and when opponents hit just .213 against her.

Here's something interesting... High-level athletics runs in the family, as Marla's father, Mike, played college baseball at Pacific University during his collegiate years.

Quotable quote: "Be grateful for every opportunity you get. It sounds cliché, but if you think about it, not many girls get the opportunity to play on in college. For the younger players, soak up every opportunity you have to learn and get better. Every day counts and gets you that much better than your opponent."

What's she up to now? After her collegiate career's completion, Marla participated in the 2016 European Championship Cup on a German team, the Wesseling Vermins. She joined former teammate Nichole Toven on the squad and participated in the championship series of games for the teams. Upon returning to the US, Gooding rejoined the Toledo softball program as an assistant while she completes her degree.
