JWOS Releases Top 50 List

Justin's World of Softball releases our first-ever "Top Fifty Watch List".

The JWOS watch list follows the mold of the annual USA Softball Player of the Year list, which determines a preliminary list of probable candidates for the National Player of the Year award.

In similarity to that list, the fifty players on the JWOS watch list are considered to be the preseason favorites to be among those to be eventually considered as finalists for the JWOS 2017 Player of the Year award, as well.

The list is made up of twelve players from the SEC; nine from the PAC-12; six each from the Big Ten, Sun Belt, and ACC; four from the Big 12; two from Conference USA; and one player each from the Southland, Big West, MAC, Colonial Athletic, Atlantic Ten, and American conferences.

Eighteen players on the watch-list are on teams that participated in the 2016 Women's College World Series. The watch list includes twenty-seven seniors, eighteen juniors, and five sophomores.

Five teams placed three players on the list: Florida, LSU, Florida State, Michigan, and defending champion Oklahoma earned the distinction. Other teams represented by two players on the list included Georgia, Louisiana-Lafayette, Arizona, UCLA, Oregon, and Notre Dame.
