JWOS Player of the Week is East Carolina's Alex Mycek
After an impressive weekend showing that included six home runs, East Carolina catcher Alex Mycek has been named the JWOS Player of the Week.
Mycek batted .769 over the course of her team's six games this week; she helped contribute to three run-rule victories in her team's favor and reached base with a hit at least twice in every game.
She enjoyed back-to-back multi-homer games against Portland State and Seton Hall, and also homered in later victories over the same two teams. She drove in five runs in her team's first victory over PSU.
The redshirt junior backstop also worked for seven bases on balls, striking fear into the heart of opposing pitchers after her impressive power show.
After the weekend, Mycek holds a team-leading .404 batting average on the season and also leads her team in home runs (9), RBI (22), and slugging percentage (1.064).
