The Canadian national team has announced the roster of twenty-nine athletes who will compete in selection camp to be part of the national team roster this summer.
The selection camp will be held from June 22-27 in Ontario and will determine which athletes compete in the World Cup of Softball, the Canada Cup, and other events.
Several longtime national team members headline the selection camp roster, including former Washington Huskies Victoria Hayward and Jenn Salling. Oregon alum Karissa Hovinga and former Western Kentucky outfielder Larissa Franklin are among other previous national team members that will vie for a spot in 2017.
Several active collegiate players are included on the selection camp roster, including Minnesota senior ace pitcher Sara Groenewegen; Wisconsin’s Kelsey Jenkins; and Kent State slugger Holly Speers.
Other familiar names on the roster include Virginia assistant coach Kaleigh Rafter, Washington breakout star Madi Schreyer, and UMass alum and longtime pro player Sara Plourde.
A surprise name on the tryout roster is former Northwestern Wildcat Emily Allard, who will split her summer between spending the season with the NPF’s Chicago Bandits and the Canuck program.
