You've heard of pulling double duty, but that job description took on a new meaning for Texas A&M's Lexi Smith last week when she performed in the circle and at the microphone.
Smith, a junior transfer in her first season as an Aggie, performed the National Anthem at the Aggie Softball Complex prior to the game, and by all reports, did a smashing job.
Cool, calm, and collected following her vocal debut, Smith's arm showed up her voice as she went on to throw a one-hit shutout against Oklahoma State in a non-conference matchup. Despite some trouble with free passes, Smith held the Cowgirls off the board and secured the "W".
Receiving credit from Smith for her taking the mic in the first place was A&M Director of Operations Cassie Green, buoyed by Smith's teammates.
