Who is she? Kacie Smith, a former third baseman for Yavapai College and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
What is she known for? Smith spent the first two years of her career at the junior college ranks, winning a national championship in 2009 and twice being named an NJCAA all-American. After transferring to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi prior to her junior season, Smith was twice named an all-Southland selection and was part of the 2011 conference championship squad.
Here’s something interesting… Kacie is one of five siblings, all of whom are current or former collegiate athletes. Her sisters, twins Sierra and Shea, are currently in their sophomore seasons at Grand Canyon.
Quotable quote: “You will have great success when you set your goals high and do everything in your power to achieve the goals that you have set for yourself. Remaining positive and selfless when you are struggling at the plate or on the field is the key to bouncing back quicker. You may strikeout your first three at-bats, but hit a walk-off in your last at-bat. You may make an error that costs the team a run, but make a play that saves a run later in the game. Great players keep chipping away and do not let themselves slump/struggle for too long.”
What’s she up to now? Now Mrs. Kacie Dodson since 2012, Kacie remained in Corpus Christi until 2015. She now lives in Phoenix, Arizona and is expecting her second child in September of 2017.
