Appalachian State has hired Shelly Hoerner as the program’s next softball coach.
Hoerner most recently served as the head coach at Georgia Tech, where she spent four seasons before being fired earlier this offseason. She put together an 80-125 career mark with the Yellow Jackets, including a 19-34 record in 2017.
Prior to her stint at Georgia Tech, Hoerner also served as the head coach at the College of Charleston, Barry University, and Valdosta State. Her resume also includes an assistant coaching stint at North Carolina State.
With the Mountaineers, Hoerner takes over a program that posted a 14-34 record in 2017, including just two wins in Sun Belt Conference play.
