Erica Ayers has been named the new head coach at Jacksonville. She takes the reins from Jennifer Steele, who departed earlier Wednesday for Marshall.
Ayers, who spent the last two seasons on Steele’s staff, previously spent six seasons under Pat Conlan at Georgetown and nine years at George Mason, her alma mater. She has traditionally specialized as an infield and defensive coach.
As a player at George Mason, Ayers ended her ended career hitting .286, with sixty-six RBI. She holds two program single-season records, and is in the top five in four other categories.
She takes over a program that she was a part of in 2017 and that finished 30-25 on the ‘17 season, including a sixth-place conference finish and a two-and-out result in the conference tournament, earning elimination in the first round of the loser’s bracket.
