Forbes herself was the first to announce the news, doing so in a social media post earlier this week. After completing her sophomore season at CCU, the 2018 junior will have two years remaining to suit up for the Panthers.

The top offensive holdover into 2017 as the Chanticleers moved from the Big South Conference to the Sun Belt, Forbes led her team for the second straight year with a .406 batting average. That number also led the Sun Belt in its entirety. She also collected a .438 on-base percentage and a .448 slugging percentage.

The Washington state native earned her second consecutive all-conference honor following the 2017 season, adding to a trophy case that also includes the Big South’s Freshman of the Year trophy from 2016 and an all-region award this season, as well.

She joins an FIU squad that went 46-15 on the ‘17 season, including a 17-6 conference record that helped earn the squad an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament.
