Former Wright State Interim Wichman Hired at Ottawa University Arizona

Former Wright State interim head coach Justine Wichman has joined the coaching staff at Ottawa University in Arizona.

Wichman, who served as interim head coach for the Raiders in 2017 following the fall resignation of Ray Loeser, collected a 21-31 overall record in her lone season at the program’s helm. The club went 14-10 in conference play.

Wichman followed Loeser to WSU from Division 2 Charleston, after serving under him for two seasons at the previous school. Under the duo’s guidance, UC won fifty games in 2016 and reached the Division 2 College World Series before ending the season ranked #8 nationally.

In addition to her time at Wright State and Charleston, Wichman’s coaching resume also includes a stint at York College, where she served as an assistant coach while completing her education.

At Ottawa, Wichman joins a program that is in its infancy, having been built from the ground up over the last six months. 2018 will be the first season that the school will field a softball team. Justin’s World of Softball contributor Lee Dobbins is the program’s head coach.

Joining Wichman on the coaching staff are Leah Lucas, a former Temple standout, as an assistant coach, as well as Stacie Chambers, who owns eighty-seven career home runs at the Division I level and will be the program’s Director of Player Personnel and Development.

  1. This was a really good post! I am an alumni of ottawa university and love stayed up to date on whats happening at my almamater

  2. She took over a substandard team in a very difficult situation last winter, and was able to lead the team to a respectable season, all things considered. Hope to see her move forward with Ottawa in a positive fashion.
