Former Missouri Western State pitcher and a part of the national-champion Oklahoma Sooners’ support staff Jackie Bishop has been named an assistant coach at Bradley.
Bishop served as a graduate assistant coach on the Sooners’ support staff during each of the team’s back-to-back national championship-winning campaigns in 2016 and 2017. She worked with Missy Lombardi and the Sooners pitching staff during that time.
The position at Bradley is Bishop’s first full-time coaching position, following her stint in Norman and a single season as an undergraduate assistant coach at her alma mater. She joins a brand new coaching staff under Amy Hayes, one that also includes Rachel Huggins, who was promoted to a full-time position earlier this summer.
As a player, Bishop twice earned Division II all-American honors, including a first-team nomination in her senior campaign. She earned ninety-six career victories and posted 977 strikeouts in 828 innings, both MWSU program records.
In 2017, the Bradley Braves finished the season with a 21-31 record, including a 7-19 conference win-loss record.
